Read chapter 1. (Pages 1-16) Answer the question below by commenting on Mrs. Austerberry's post.
Chapter 1 begins with the sentence, “It’s a perfect night to run away . . .”
What is the family running from at the opening of the story? Describe at least three ways in which running away (or choosing to stay) is an important idea. How do you think it contributes to a theme?

ReplyDeleteI think it might contribute to the theme because they could get in trouble with there parents. Another contribute is they could be safer if they stay. If they run away anything could get them.
ReplyDeleteI agree but you forgot to say what they are running away from.
DeleteYeah
DeleteThe family is running from the Taliban. I think it it a good idea to run away because the family can get killed or hurt. The Taliban got to much power so I think it would be safer to leave than to stay. Except it's really risky to try to escape from Afghanistan at the time.

DeleteI agree with that it is risky to escape from Afghanistan.
DeleteThe family is running from the Taliban. I think it is a good idea to run away because the family could get hurt or killed. Another reason that they should because their mom is sick and the doctors can't diagnose her sickness but the doctors in another country can. Last, they should run away because then they can be safe.

DeleteYes
DeleteI think it contributes to the theme because it might be about keeping you family safe and they are running away so they can be safe and away from the Taliban.
ReplyDeleteIt contributes to the theme because the theme is being safe in times of danger. The theme contributes to the story because the family is running away from the Taliban.
ReplyDeleteThe sentence "It's a perfect night to get away" contributes
ReplyDeleteto the story because the family is running away from the Taliban.
The family is running away from the Taliban. The Taliban is forcing them to do things that are not things that are not part of their religion. Also, the mom is very sick and she needs a different doctor because the doctors in Kabul can't help her. They need to run away so they can be safe.
